EZ Stands
By David Bailey
This year I attended a couple of Vintage MX events and really enjoyed the trip down memory lane. One thing I noticed was how many different versions of homemade stands were being used. With a low pipe, the modern platform stands don’t work, so I saw people using tie downs from the sides of their trucks to the handlebars, wooden stands, old school frame rail types with the long handle, you name it. The simplest stand I've seen and now have is the EZ Stand. Just roll the bike into it and it sits there! It doesn't get any easier.
My son has been riding an old 1991 CR500 lately and even that doesn’t sit steady on the modern stands because the frame rails have a slight bend in them. Another benefit to it, especially for the older guys is that you don’t have lift it up onto the stand. Recently for a photo shoot for American Airlines magazine I was the only one home and the photographer couldn’t lift that old 500. I pulled out the EZ Stand and he rolled it right in. A friend of mine has twin daughters that ride and I can just picture him running back through the pits to the truck to help them put their bikes on the stand. With the EZ Stand, they can do it themselves. The same goes for mini riders. Even Doug Henry is using it. It also works great for loading bikes in your trailer!
